At the forum sites, the following is carried out:

a comprehensive assessment of the direction of development of the forestry industry and the possibilities of increasing the efficiency of forest management;

study of the best experience of Russian regions in organizing the multipurpose use of forests, practices for the development of certain areas of forest use;

discussion of the prospects for the introduction of modern technologies at all stages of forest management;

discussion of measures to counter the illegal use of forests, measures to combat forest fires;

Discussion of issues of legislative regulation of forest relations, as well as preparation of proposals for amending forest legislation aimed at improving and increasing the efficiency of multipurpose forest use.

For a full and comprehensive discussion of forest management issues, the National Forest Forum is held in several stages in different regions and ends with a final event in Moscow.

The association is a member of the organizing committee of the forum, performing, among other things, the following functions:

definition of the concept of the forum and its individual events;

development of proposals for the programs of the stages of the forum, the composition of the participants, staffing, the composition of experts and moderators;

definition of the concept of information coverage in the media;

participation in the events of the forum.

Decisions and proposals of the organizing committee of the forum are formalized in the minutes and are binding.

The Federal Forestry Award «Russian Forest» in the category «Responsible Forest User» was established to draw the attention of the public and industry participants to the issues of environmental, social and corporate responsibility of forest management.

The purpose of the award:

to increase the environmental responsibility of business by encouraging the achievements of forest users in the field of preserving the environment and natural heritage.

The objectives of the award:

support for timber producers who are responsible for environmental issues, conduct transparent business and develop environmentally friendly production;

establishing a dialogue between government authorities and timber industry;

identification of the number of those interested in this problem;

attracting public attention to environmental problems;

the formation of public opinion aimed at conscious consumption;

prevention of the fight against illegal logging and illegal timber trade;

shaping the image of the Russian forest industry as an environmentally responsible business.

The Responsible Forest User Award is presented at the regional stages of the National Forestry Forum. So, the best forest users have already been identified in the Tyumen region, the republics of Yakutia and Komi.
