Meeting of the subcommittee on enhancing the sustainability of the financial sector and economic sectors

On January 31, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak held a meeting of the subcommittee on increasing the sustainability of the financial sector and economic sectors.
The main topic of the meeting was the analysis of production and financial indicators, profitability and the level of debt of enterprises in the metallurgical and forestry complexes. Particular attention was paid to monitoring the implementation of large investment projects and possible risks associated with high interest rates, social and environmental burden on enterprises.
- The Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with industry companies, are to prepare a roadmap for the development of domestic logging equipment production; in doing so, the proposals that the Russian Forest Association and OPORA RUSSIA previously voiced were taken into account.
- The Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are to work out the support measures proposed by businesses for metallurgical and forestry projects.
- The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Economic Development, together with the Ministry of Finance, shall identify key projects and enterprises in the industry that require targeted support and prepare proposals for assistance measures.
- The Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and JSC Russian Railways shall consider the possibility of increasing the number of container trains for metallurgical and forestry enterprises, taking into account regional production and shipment volumes.
- The Ministry of Economic Development shall work out the conditions for including enterprises in the register of continuous production and propose measures to ensure the timely delivery of raw materials and products.
- The Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Industry and Trade shall develop tools to stimulate demand for forestry products in individual housing construction, industry and energy.
The measures to support the metallurgical and forestry complexes proposed at the meeting will have an effect on maintaining domestic demand and production volumes in these industries.
