Russia increased production of sawn timber, plywood and pellets in the first half of the year
According to Rosstat, in the first half of 2025, Russian enterprises increased production volumes in a number of areas of the forest industry complex.
• From January to June, 14.5 million m3 of lumber were produced - 1.5% more than in the same period last year;
• Plywood production increased by 4.3% and amounted to 1.765 million m3;
• Pellet production increased by 8.1% - to 567 thousand tons.
At the same time, a decrease was recorded in the fiberboard and particleboard segments: fiberboard - by 5% (339 million conventional m2), chipboard - by 12.4% (5.562 million conventional m3).
In the production of paper and cardboard, the indicators remained at the level of the first half of 2024, and the production of pulp decreased by 2.4% - to 4.176 million tons.
Despite the positive dynamics for individual types of products, in general, according to the results of the first half of 2025, the industry recorded a decrease in industrial production indices: the dynamics of woodworking production amounted to -3.5%, and in furniture production a decline of -4.6% year-on-year was recorded.
