In the first ten months of 2024, the Russian timber industry shipped goods worth 3 trillion rubles.

The volume of shipments of goods from the Russian forest industry complex for January - October 2024 increased by 22% and reached 3 trillion rubles. A significant part of this amount - 1.3 trillion rubles - was accounted for by paper and paper products, the shipment of which increased by 22%. Domestic consumption of forest industry products also showed growth of 25%, reaching 2.68 trillion rubles, including imports.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Oleg Bocharov presented this data at the VIII International Conference in Istanbul. According to him, the sustainable development of the industry requires synergy of efforts by business and the state.

The updated draft strategy for the Russian forest complex until 2030 has already been submitted to the government. The document specifies key indicators, including the development of the pulp and paper sector.

According to Rosstat, over ten months, paper and cardboard production increased by 6.1% (to 7.82 million tons), plywood by 4.7% (to 2.84 million m3), chipboard by 24.6% (to 11.9 million m3), and fiberboard by 3.9% (to 590 million m2). The production of sawn timber remained almost at the level of last year (+0.2%, 23.9 million m3), but pellet production decreased by 22.2% and amounted to 869 thousand tons - this trend remains a challenge for the industry.

The Russian forestry industry is demonstrating steady growth, but the tasks of further development require an integrated approach and coordination.
