All-Russian Forest Planting Day

The All-Russian Forest Planting Day is starting in Russia - an annual environmental campaign that dates back to 1898: the first event was dedicated to the centenary of the Forestry Department of the Russian Empire. The campaign was also held in Soviet times. For example, in 1920, the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky took part in it.
The modern format was initiated by Rosleskhoz in 2011 - since then, mass tree plantings have been held in the regions every spring. Forestry departments, volunteers, and schoolchildren join in.
This year, the campaign is being held especially widely - in honor of the 80th anniversary of the Victory and the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland. Only within the framework of the "Garden of Memory" more than 15 million trees have already been planted, and not only Russian regions are participating, but also 44 countries.
In addition, on May 7, a forest restoration campaign was launched in the Moscow Region: 43,564 pine and spruce seedlings will appear in 14 areas. The main site is the Nesterovskoye district forestry in the Ruzsky District.
