Victoria Abramchenko supported the initiative of Tatarstan to harvest overmature forest by forest districts
The authorities of the Republic of Tatarstan have developed a bill according to which forestry departments will be able to harvest timber in overmature forests that are not in demand by tenants. Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation Victoria Abramchenko got acquainted with the bill and supported this proposal.
Victoria Abramchenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Russian Federation: “I met with the head of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Colleagues have prepared a draft law that will allow forest districts to harvest overmature timber that is not in demand by tenants. I supported this initiative. The Republic of Tatarstan will become a pilot region for testing such changes.”
In addition, during the working meeting, the parties discussed the results of work and key indicators in the republic in the field of ecology and environmental management, as well as support for forestry and forest care activities. Following the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the adoption of this bill will allow funds to be allocated for the development of forestry in the regions and will accelerate reforestation.
