The Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry discussed the development of foreign economic relations in priority markets

On December 17, a meeting with the participation of Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, was held at the Congress Center of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The event brought together heads of regional chambers, business councils, entrepreneurial communities and foreign representatives of the CCI of the Russian Federation. The Russian Timber Association was represented by its First Vice President Andrey Goncharov.

The main topic of the meeting was the discussion of the development of foreign economic relations in priority markets. The participants discussed the expansion of cooperation with foreign partners, business exchange issues, protecting the interests of Russian enterprises abroad, as well as the prospects for creating joint ventures.

Maxim Reshetnikov, head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation: “There is currently a preferential trade regime with the CIS countries, Vietnam and Serbia. Next year, the agreement with Iran will come into effect, we are waiting for ratification from our partners. Negotiations with the UAE and Indonesia are in the final stretch. After signing these agreements — and we expect this to happen next year — the volume of exports covered by preferences will grow from 6.7 to 8.3 trillion rubles.".

According to the minister, exports play a key role in the economy, forming a quarter of the country's GDP. In the next three years, it will account for up to 10% of economic growth. Today, more than 80% of trade turnover comes from the markets of friendly countries — this is almost twice as much as in 2021.

In recent months, many meetings and events have been devoted to international cooperation in the forestry complex, which were covered by "Russian Forest". Thus, on December 9 in Moscow, the prospects for joint projects in industry, logistics and the environmental agenda were discussed at the Russian-Emirati forum of special economic zones.

On November 27, a meeting of the Board of Trustees of OPORA RUSSIA was held, where the key topic was the expansion of foreign economic relations of Russian SMEs with the BRICS countries and the Middle East.

On November 22, the State Duma of the Russian Federation discussed measures to improve the logistics of forest products, including subsidizing deliveries to new markets - Africa and South America.

Another important platform was the international exhibition PulpFor 2024, which on November 12 brought together 210 exhibitors from Russia and foreign countries in St. Petersburg.
