A regulatory framework for the construction of wooden high-rise buildings has been established in the Russian Federation
In Russia, the regulatory framework necessary for the development of multi-story wooden housing construction has been completed. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation Sergei Muzychenko during parliamentary hearings in the Federation Council.
According to him, to enable the widespread use of wooden structures in construction, the regulatory and technical documentation was essentially created from scratch. Currently, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is finalizing the development of codes of practice regulating fire safety requirements for wooden buildings. Meanwhile, mechanical safety standards are already fully developed and permit the construction of timber buildings up to nine stories high.
As Senator Oleg Golov noted, modern technologies and materials allow wooden houses to be considered full-fledged, comfortable, and technologically advanced housing that meets current quality and safety requirements.
At the same time, attention to regulatory support is increasing in the individual housing construction segment. In December, the Wooden Housing Association presented recommendations for the commissioning and acceptance of wooden houses. The document is based on current building codes and contains practical rules for quality control of individual housing construction projects using timber structures and materials.
These recommendations are intended to serve as a guide for customers when accepting finished homes, as well as a basis for the development of internal quality standards by construction companies that are understandable to buyers, technical supervision authorities, and financial institutions.
