In 2026, the quality of artificial reforestation will be tested in the regions

In 2026, Rosleskhoz will strengthen monitoring of the quality of artificial reforestation. Inspections will be conducted in the regions, at forestry units, with particular attention to the care of planted forest crops.

The key objective is not simply to increase the area of planted trees, but to ensure their transition to forested areas with target species. Quality is becoming a priority in the implementation of the federal project "Forest Conservation."

Ivan Sovetnikov, head of Rosleskhoz: "It is important to direct funding toward the creation of high-quality forest crops, which will subsequently be transitioned to forested areas."

Funding for reforestation continues to grow: from almost 2.5 billion rubles last year to 3.5 billion rubles. in 2026.

Special attention will be paid to regions with high levels of forestry write-offs. In some regions, this figure exceeds 60%, and in some cases reaches 100%, raising questions about the quality of the work and subsequent maintenance.

The agency plans to request clarification from the regions and conduct a detailed audit at the level of specific forestry units.
