A joint extended meeting of the specialized committees and commissions of the business associations Delovaya Rossiya and OPORA RUSSIA, as well as the National Association of Timber Industry Producers Russian Timber, was held on December 23. The meeting brought together representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Forestry Agency, the Russian Export Center, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, experts and the largest timber industry companies in the country. The Russian Timber Association was represented at the event by its First Vice President Andrey Goncharov, who also heads the OPORA RUSSIA Commission on the Forestry Complex.

The meeting discussed strategic areas for the development of the timber industry complex, prospects for the export of timber products, taking into account the updated structure of the national project International Cooperation and Export for the period up to 2030, implementation of investment projects, as well as current issues of forestry and improvement of the regulatory framework.

Andrey Goncharov, First Vice President of the Russian Timber Association: “In the current conditions, it is important to ensure the technological sovereignty of the forest industry complex - for this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia needs to develop a corresponding program. Also, one of the main issues remains the logistics of forest cargo, we see a request for a higher priority order of shipment of processed wood products. In general, there are quite a lot of unresolved issues, so the agenda for 2025 is very busy”.

Recommendations based on the results of the meeting will be sent to the relevant executive authorities, as well as to the State Duma and the Federation Council.
