The period for conducting state examination of forest development projects has been reduced

From March 1, 2026, the period for undergoing state examination of a forest development project (FDP) will be reduced almost by half - from 15 to 8 working days. For documents submitted for timber harvesting, the procedure will be 11 days. This will reduce the time and financial costs of forest users on permitting procedures.

Elena Borodavkina, Head of the Department for Legal Support and Use of Forests of the Federal Forestry Agency: “Reducing the time frame for reviewing industry documents is an important step in optimizing the work of the forestry business and regional forestry departments. This will allow us to promptly eliminate identified errors in the FDP, make changes to them and begin work on forest areas.”.

In addition, from March 2026, the procedure for providing a number of industry government services will change. Certification of specialists in the allocation and taxation of logging areas, as well as forest management, will be available only in electronic format through the "Gosuslugi" portal. Based on the results of testing, specialists will be included in special registers, while the issuance of certificates is canceled.
