Less than half of forestry equipment is equipped with the ERA-GLONASS system

From January 1, 2025, the movement of forestry equipment without the ERA-GLONASS monitoring system is considered a violation. This is due to the launch of the Federal State Information System of the Forestry Complex (FGIS LC). According to the new requirements, all owners of forestry equipment - including forest land tenants, municipal and state institutions, as well as freight carriers - are required to equip the equipment with certified satellite navigation equipment (ASN terminals).

According to GLONASS, by the beginning of 2025, more than 15 thousand units of equipment were connected, which is 38.5% of the total fleet of forestry equipment in Russia. In total, it contains about 39 thousand machines, including:

  • 22 thousand tracked tractors (mostly domestically produced);
  • 5 thousand imported harvesters;
  • 7 thousand foreign-made forwarders;
  • 1.5 thousand feller bunchers;
  • 3.5 thousand other devices (both domestic and imported).

In December 2024, the number of requests for connection to GLONASS increased tenfold; over the January holidays, over 6 thousand more units of equipment were connected to the system. However, many small and medium-sized businesses still risk facing losses due to the lack of necessary equipment and incomplete data in the FGIS LC. This is fraught with significant fines for false information.

Earlier we wrote that in response to these difficulties, “OPORA RUSSIA” sent a proposal to the Government of the Russian Federation to introduce a transition period until the end of March 2025, during which fines for violations will not be applied.
