Russia has become the main supplier of timber for Turkey

In April 2025, Russia took first place among timber suppliers to Turkey, overtaking Ukraine ($10.2 million), the United States ($7.2 million), China ($6.7 million) and Romania ($3.4 million). Turkish timber imports from Russia reached $20.6 million, the highest since August 2023. Compared to March, the volume increased by almost a third, in annual terms - by 1%.

The most popular products were:

  • processed timber up to 6 mm thick - $8.5 million;
  • glued plywood - $4.45 million;
  • profiled beams, boards and planks - $1.95 million;
  • processed timber over 6 mm - $1.94 million;
  • fiberboard - $1.89 million.

At the same time, paper supplies from Russia also increased - to $17.5 million, which was the maximum since July 2023. Key positions:

  • kraft paper and kraft cardboard - $7.5 million;
  • uncoated paper and cardboard - $4.7 million;
  • paper napkins and towels - $2.2 million;
  • newsprint - $1.7 million.

Russia also entered the top 5 paper suppliers, behind China, Germany, Finland and Sweden.
