Russia Increases Timber Exports: Results of the First Four Months of 2025

According to the Federal Customs Service, in January - March 2025, Russian forest product exports amounted to $2.6 billion, an increase of 14.4% compared to the same period last year. Imports also grew - by 5.8% (to $0.8 billion).

The development of foreign trade in timber is also confirmed by regional statistics: in continuation of the #export_digest section, we are publishing fresh data for January - April.

  • Arkhangelsk Region shipped 573.6 thousand m3 of timber for export. This is 9.9% more than for the same period in 2024. The main supply destinations were China, Israel, Egypt, Azerbaijan, the Republic of Korea and Tunisia.
  • The Komi Republic sent 558 thousand m3 of timber to international markets. The products were exported to Egypt, China, India, Korea and Turkey.
  • The Vologda Region increased its export volume to 451 thousand m3, which is 8% higher than last year. The leaders among importing countries were China, Egypt, India, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
  • The Tomsk Region exported 306 thousand m3 of timber. More than half of the supplies went to Uzbekistan, and another 19% to China. The rest of the products went to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Vietnam, the UAE and Afghanistan.
  • The Republic of Karelia shipped 158.3 thousand m3 of timber abroad, including 113.3 thousand m3 of sawn timber. The main export destinations were China, Egypt, India, Iraq, Azerbaijan and the Republic of Korea.
  • The Novgorod Region shipped 111 thousand m3 of timber products abroad in January - April. A year ago, this figure was 90 thousand m3. This year, the region's products were exported to 13 countries - one more than a year earlier.
