By the end of 2024, revenues from Russian forests grew by 7.9%

By the end of 2024, federal budget revenues from forest use amounted to RUB 54.2 billion. This is RUB 4 billion (7.9%) more than the year before.

The leaders in terms of federal budget revenues were:

  • Irkutsk Region - RUB 4.4 billion;
  • Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - RUB 4.1 billion;
  • Yakutia - RUB 3.4 billion;
  • Krasnoyarsk Territory - RUB 3.2 billion;
  • Leningrad Region - RUB 2.7 billion.

These regions are home to the largest number of lease and sale and purchase agreements for forest stands. The bulk of the revenue came from timber harvesting: in 2024, the budget received RUB 26 billion from this activity, 9.5% more than in 2023.

At the same time, not all regions managed to meet the forecast indicators. Among them are the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Kaluga Oblast, and Khabarovsk Krai. In 2025, Rosleskhoz will strengthen control over the work of regional forestry departments in these regions, and, if necessary, initiate additional measures by local authorities.
