The Russian Forest Forum discussed the forestry development strategy through 2035
From December 3rd to 5th, the International Forestry Forum and Exhibition "Russian Forest" took place in the Vologda Region. Approximately 80 companies from 22 regions, as well as delegations from China, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, participated. The forum traditionally served as a venue for discussing key development areas for the forestry industry.
The main topic of the forum was the updated Strategy for the Development of the Forestry Complex of the Russian Federation until 2035. The initiative to update it was given by the President of Russia. The document must take into account new economic conditions, support measures, and the development of advanced wood processing. During a roundtable discussion, representatives of federal agencies presented the main objectives and timelines for preparing the strategy. Proposals from experts, businesses, and the scientific community will be included in the final version.
The forum also served as a platform for concluding agreements. The Vologda Region and the Amkodor-Lesmash holding company Agreeing to supply three Amkodor-Onego forwarders to Vologdaleskhoz. The cooperation aims to upgrade equipment and improve the efficiency of timber harvesting in the region.
Logistics was a key topic. Northern Railway presented new multimodal routes to companies, including the international North-South corridor. According to Northern Railway, 11.4 million tons of timber cargo were loaded from January to November 2025, more than 19% of which was exported. Approximately 17% of shipments are carried in containers; their volume has increased 2.5-fold over the past 10 years.
