The Ministry of Industry and Trade is preparing a roadmap for equipment for the forestry industry

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, together with mechanical engineering enterprises, is preparing a roadmap for the creation of domestic equipment for the forestry complex. Among the priorities is the design of harvesters and forwarders. The development is being carried out with the participation of industry companies.

Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation: “The forestry industry is quite successfully pursuing a policy of import substitution, increasing its share in the Russian market. In general, over the past five years, it has increased from 82 to 89%. At the same time, domestic demand has become a pulling driver against the backdrop of the closure of European markets. Of course, the last three years have not been easy for the forestry industry, but we have managed to stabilize the situation and significantly reduce the impact of sanctions, achieving growth in key indicators.".

The Minister noted that by the end of 2024:

  • shipments in monetary terms in the forestry industry increased by 21%;
  • tax revenues to budgets at all levels increased by 22.7%;
  • according to Rosstat, production volumes for most types of products remain the same or are growing.

The volume of investment remains stable, but it is important to take into account the impact of monetary policy on the availability of financing.

The creation of the roadmap was discussed earlier at a meeting of the subcommittee on the sustainability of economic sectors. Proposals and comments on its development were made by the Russian Forest Association and “OPORA RUSSIA” at the end of 2024.
