Tree nursery "Russian Forest" is a participant in reforestation of the Irkutsk region

The Russian Forest nursery, a member of the Russian Forest association from the city of Angarsk, Irkutsk region, grows coniferous seedlings with a closed root system and meets the needs of enterprises in the Irkutsk region. The infrastructure is designed for 5 million seedlings per year using two rotations and the possibility of increasing to 15 million.

Grown seedlings are used for reforestation in the Irkutsk region. A significant part of this year’s planting material was supplied for the needs of the Ilim Group branch in the Bratsk region. In the future, planting material from the Russian Forest nursery will provide reforestation for the priority investment projects of other members of the Russian Forest association - the StarWood companies in Ust-Kut (Irkutsk region) and Bazis in Lesosibirsk (Krasnoyarsk Territory).

Igor Kobzev, Governor of the Irkutsk Region: “The region is a leader among the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in terms of reforestation volumes. Every year, about 10% of all areas of restored forest in the country are located in the Angara region. This year, we ensured that the area of reforestation in relation to abandoned forests exceeded 100%.”.

Closed root system (CRS) technology is one of the most popular in reforestation. To grow coniferous species, the Russian Forest nursery uses a modern approach and high-performance equipment.

Olga Kalyuzhnaya, President of the Russian Forest Association: “Forest conservation is a key task for maintaining biodiversity and combating climate change. Over the past few years, the Government of the Irkutsk Region has repeatedly identified increasing the use of seedlings with a closed root system for reforestation measures as one of the key tasks for the development of forestry. The professional team of the Russian Forest nursery makes a significant contribution every day to ensuring reforestation in the territory of both the Irkutsk region and the Siberian Federal District..
