How Russian regions are preparing for the fire season

Forest fire centers across the country are actively preparing for the fire-hazardous period. The main tasks are training personnel, checking equipment and purchasing new equipment to prevent fires and fight fires.
Krasnoyarsk Krai
RUB 1.7 billion has been allocated to strengthen security in remote areas, modernize air units and create a unit in Turukhansk. The new air unit with a staff of 300 people will allow for a faster response to fires in hard-to-reach areas.
Arkhangelsk Region
The construction of the Arctic training center for training forest firefighters of the Northwestern Federal District is nearing completion in the region. A two-story building with an area of 930 m2; was erected in the village of Levkovka for RUB 90 million. The center will be able to simultaneously train three groups of eight people: parachutist instructors, parachutist-firefighters, forest fire extinguishing managers and forest firefighters. The first classes will begin this summer.
Khabarovsk Krai
In 2025, the region will purchase 48 Geoscan 801 drones for 72 million rubles. They will help detect forest fires in places where visibility is difficult due to terrain or dense vegetation. Currently, firefighters get to the site of a fire in three hours on average; the new UAVs will allow them to more quickly record fire outbreaks and minimize the area of fire spread.
Kamchatka Krai
This year, the region's firefighting equipment was replenished with new equipment worth 32 million rubles. Motor pumps, navigation systems, closed-type fire tanks and other equipment have been purchased and have already been transferred to the balance sheet of the Kamchatka Forest Protection Institution.
Republic of Tatarstan
To strengthen forest fire monitoring in the region, it is planned to invest 14 million rubles in expanding the satellite navigation system. Modern technologies will allow for faster detection of fires and prompt dispatch of fire teams to them.
The regions are taking comprehensive measures to prepare for the forest fire season. Strengthening security, upgrading equipment and introducing modern technologies will help improve the effectiveness of fire prevention and extinguishing.
