Results of the All-Russian Forum “Forests of Russia”

On September 13–14, the All-Russian Forum “Forests of Russia” was held in Irkutsk. During the first day of the forum, representatives of the industry, forestry departments and authorities summed up the results of their work over the past year. Igor Kobzev, Governor of the Irkutsk Region, took part in the opening of the forum.

A meeting of the coordination council of the Interregional Association “Siberian Agreement” on forestry and renewable natural resources was also held. The participants discussed the prospects for the formation of an interregional cluster “Forest, wood processing and wood chemistry” as part of the implementation of the Strategy for the socio-economic development of the Siberian Federal District until 2035. A discussion took place on the issue of developing an interregional program “Development of wooden housing construction in the Siberian Federal District until 2035.”

On the same day, participants discussed criteria for assessing the effectiveness of government authorities of Russian regions in implementing the powers delegated to them in the field of forest relations at the round table “Assessment of regions: new approaches.”

On the second day of the forum, three round tables were held. At one, the issue of implementing federal legislation on “forest amnesty” was discussed. Another was dedicated to monitoring fire danger in forests in real time using a video monitoring system and the use of unmanned aerial systems. The topic of the third round table was new realities in investment activities.

In conclusion, the forum participants planted spruce trees in the Taltsy architectural and ethnographic museum. Among the delegates are Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Sergei Anoprienko, head of Rosleskhoz Ivan Sovetnikov, Senator Tatyana Gigel, First Deputy Governor of the Irkutsk Region Roman Kolesov, Minister of Forestry of the region Pavel Kirdyapkin, head of the ANO "Garden of Memory", chairman of "Forest Volunteers" Olga Stepchenko and first vice-president of the Russian Forest Association Andrey Goncharov.
