Results of the II Federal Smart Forest Forum

On October 12, 2023, Smart Forest, the II Federal Forum on IT and digitalization in the timber industry, took place in St. Petersburg. The Russian Forest Association acted as an information partner for the event.

Three sessions were held within the framework of the forum, during which participants discussed the potential for introducing advanced technologies in the industry and assessed changes in IT development programs in timber industry enterprises over the past year. In addition, experts discussed issues related to the implementation of FSIS LC in 2025 and the regulatory framework in the field of forest management and digitalization of the forestry complex, as well as the need to create an industrial competence center for the industry.

A large block of reports was devoted to import substitution of equipment and software, the use of digital twin technologies in production and GPS monitoring for logging management.

At the end of the business program, participants noted the importance of resolving issues of technological sovereignty, discussed the relevance of the ESG agenda and the future of digitalization of the forestry industry. Experts also noted positive changes associated with the introduction of modern techniques and the development of new technologies for business.

As part of the Smart Forest business program, an exhibition was held at which products from developers of IT solutions, equipment and software for forestry complexes were presented. The forum was attended by heads and managers of digital transformation directorates, IT and information security services of timber industry companies, representatives of regulatory bodies, government institutions and development funds, as well as top managers of domestic developers of IT solutions, software, telecommunications equipment and process control systems, managers and representatives of IT companies, analysts and industry experts.
