Investments in the forestry industry: Komi Republic
The Komi Republic is one of the country's key forest regions. Forests cover approximately 84% of the territory, and the forestry industry accounts for over 44% of the industrial structure. The region has consistently focused on developing advanced wood processing, and new government decisions confirm this commitment.
TWO NEW INVESTMENT PROJECTS
The government of the Komi Republic has selected sites for two investment projects in advanced wood processing. The volume of forest resources planned for their implementation exceeds 2 million m³. The preliminary investment volume is approximately 6 billion rubles.
The projects are targeted at the republic's northern territories, where there is a current shortage of tenants and the forest fund is predominantly comprised of low-grade timber. The new facilities will process this type of raw material, including for forest chemical production and the pulp and paper industry. This involves developing new technological chains and integrating resources previously considered unprofitable into circulation.
SYSTEMIC INVESTMENT DYNAMICS
To date, nine forestry investment projects have been implemented in the region, with a total investment volume of approximately 34 billion rubles.
Four more projects are in the active stage and are expected to reach design capacity in 2027–2029. Investments in these projects have already exceeded 12 billion rubles.
By the end of 2025, the republic's forestry complex demonstrated production growth in several key segments. New initiatives are aimed at consolidating this momentum and further developing deep processing as a priority area of regional industrial policy.
