Exports of sawn timber from Russia have grown by 7.1% since the beginning of 2025

According to the Federal Forestry Agency, in January - February 2025, over 3.5 million m3 of lumber were exported from Russia, 7.1% more than in the same period last year. The main buyers of processed timber remain China, Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

The demand for Russian timber continues to grow, and the focus on deep timber processing is proving its effectiveness. Since the beginning of the year, over 60 thousand export transactions have been created through the FGIS LK, and the volume of timber and its processed products transportation amounted to 60.4 million m3.

The following regions are leaders in export volumes:

  • Irkutsk Region and the Republic of Buryatia - 770 thousand m3 of timber. The main volume went to China (77%), and products were also exported to Uzbekistan, Japan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
  • Komi Republic — 260.6 thousand m3 of timber. The geography of deliveries included China, Iraq, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
  • Primorsky Krai — 242.8 thousand m3 and 400 tons of timber products. The main export destinations were China, Japan, Vietnam and Indonesia.
  • Zabaikalsky Krai shipped 3.7 thousand m3 of timber to China. In February 2025, deliveries amounted to 2.4 thousand m3.
  • The Republic of Khakassia — 3.8 thousand m3 of timber. The export volume increased by 26.4% compared to the same period in 2024. The main sales markets are Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
  • The Republic of Mordovia — 786 m3 of plywood. Over the year, the volume of deliveries increased by 3.5 times. The main destinations are India, Egypt and China.
