Russia's timber exports grew by 14% in the first half of the year
Based on the results of the first half of 2025, deliveries of processed timber from Russia to friendly countries increased by 14.4% and amounted to 11.9 million m3. Such data are provided by Rosleskhoz with reference to the Federal State Information System of the Forest Complex.
More than 189 thousand export ESDs were registered in the system; a year earlier, the number of export ESDs for January - June was 187 thousand. The main destinations remain China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, as well as Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. In total, deliveries go to 37 countries.
Vyacheslav Spirenkov, Deputy Head of Rosleskhoz: “We receive data on timber transactions, including export ones, in real time. This became possible, among other things, thanks to the established interaction with the Federal Customs Service: everything happens automatically, document verification takes several minutes.".
According to the Federal Customs Service, in January - May 2025, the export of forest and pulp and paper products in monetary terms increased by 7.6% and amounted to $4.3 billion. For the whole of 2024, the growth of exports in these categories amounted to 2.6% - to $10.1 billion. At the same time, imports decreased by 4.7% - to $3.2 billion.
