Most private housing in Russia is built from wood

In Q1 2025, 170.4 thousand individual housing objects with a total area of ​​24.7 million m2 were registered in Russia - this is 17% more than in the same period last year.

Wood remains the most popular construction material: 55.5 thousand houses with an area of ​​7 million m2 were built from it. Brick buildings accounted for 31.4 thousand objects (5 million m2), another 1.7 thousand houses were built using panel technology.

Low-rise construction is developing most actively in the Central Federal District (29% of all built areas), the Volga Federal District (17%) and the Southern Federal District (13%). Most of the registered objects are single-story houses. Their share continues to grow: in January - In March, 100 thousand such buildings were built, which is 16% more than a year ago. Also registered were 65.1 thousand two-story and 4.8 thousand three-story buildings.
