The Russian Government allocated 64 billion rubles for the development of the forestry complex in 2024

On April 17, the All-Russian conference "Forests of Russia" was held, dedicated to the results of forestry work and tasks for 2025. The focus is on government support measures, industry restoration, fire fighting and priorities of state policy in the forestry sector.
Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government: "Russia accounts for a fifth of the world's forest reserves. Thanks to this, our country makes a great contribution to ensuring global environmental well-being. For several years now, more forests have been appearing in Russia than are being lost. This is facilitated by the measures implemented by Rosleskhoz, attracting businesses. In 2024, forest restoration was 1.5 times greater than the area of felled and dead trees. The volume of funds allocated by the government for the development of forestry in 2024 amounted to 64 billion rubles..
Stabilization and growth
The recovery of the industry continues: timber harvesting has increased by more than 6 million m3, and in 2025 the total volume is expected to exceed 200 million m3. Positive dynamics are supported by measures of the national project "Ecology", as well as the new project "Ecological well-being" with funding of more than 16 billion rubles until 2030.
Fighting forest fires
This year, almost 20 billion rubles will be allocated for fire prevention measures. More than 5 billion rubles. will be used to expand regional air bases, especially in the most “burn” regions. At the beginning of the year, a forest fire center began operating in the Far East. The goal is to eliminate at least 80% of fires within the first 24 hours after detection.
Digitalization and new technologies
As part of the digital transformation of the industry, it is planned to supply almost 1.5 thousand drones by 2030. The emphasis is on the development of remote surveillance and patrolling methods.
Increase in wages and tax revenues
Income from the forestry complex in 2024 exceeded 80 billion rubles. Almost 3.5 billion rubles have already been allocated to increase wages in the industry, and by 2027, 10.9 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes. In the coming years, the amount will reach 24 billion rubles.
Strategic guidelines
Key tasks are included in the forestry development strategy: advanced reforestation, reduction of fire areas, digitalization, improving the quality of accounting and decriminalization of the industry.
