RUB 38 billion received into the budget of the Russian Federation for the use of forests for the first half of 2024

In the first half of the year, Russian timber companies paid the state more than 38 billion rubles for the use of forests, which is 10% more than last year. At the same time, payments increased in 56 regions of Russia. The main budget income traditionally comes from the logging sector. Market participants and experts explain the increase in payments by the abolition of some benefits and the indexation of rental rates for plots.

The Irkutsk region took first place in the amount of funds transferred to the budget - almost 2.8 billion rubles, which is 1% more than last year. In second place is the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, which transferred 2.4 billion rubles, which is also more than last year. The Krasnoyarsk Territory also approached this value. In addition, the top five included the Komi Republic (more than 2 billion rubles) and the Sakha Republic (1.6 billion rubles).

Penza region became the leader in the growth of income from the use of forests: in this region they grew by 84% and amounted to more than 101 million rubles. A significant increase in income from the use of forests was also noted in the Tula region - by 80% (up to 60.3 million rubles), in Dagestan - by 64% (up to 68 million rubles), in the Sakhalin region - by 59% (up to 380. 8 million rubles). North Ossetia closes the top five regions in terms of growth: income from the use of forests there increased by 43% and amounted to 20.9 million rubles.

Most of the state's income from forest use comes from timber harvesting. This sector earned 23 billion rubles, which is 16.4% more than a year earlier. The increase in logging volumes occurred in the Siberian Federal District, where the increase was 7.3% and reached 29.8 million m3. In the Northwestern Federal District, the figure decreased by 0.9% (to 24.2 million m3), and in the Volga Federal District - by 0.6% (to 13.2 million m3 ). According to Rosstat, the overall growth in logging volumes in Russia in the first half of the year was 5%.

The second place in terms of contribution to the budget from the use of forests is occupied by income from subsoil research and mining. They grew by 5.9% and amounted to 9.4 billion rubles. Also, income from the construction, reconstruction and operation of linear facilities increased by 1.3% (to 2.4 billion rubles), and from recreational activities of companies - by 2% (to 1.5 billion rubles). Experts note that thanks to the development of tools for attracting investment in the industry, income from timber harvesting as part of investment projects is growing. In the first half of the year they increased by 18.6% and amounted to more than 3.1 billion rubles.
