The Association continues to work on resolving the situation with the supply of sawn timber to the PRC

The «Russian Forest» association continues to take part in the implementation of a set of measures aimed at resolving difficulties with the supply of sawn timber from the Siberian region to the PRC.

This agreement was reached during a meeting with the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev on June 29, 2021, which was attended by the leaders of the Russian Forest Association.

The meeting participants discussed a systemic problem related to the shipment of products of Siberian companies to China, in particular through the border crossings of Zabaikalsk, Naushki and Grodekovo. The Association, together with Russian Railways, will soon develop proposals for inclusion in the list of priority shipments of timber products. The proposed measures will be sent for approval to the interested state authorities.

In March 2021, Russian companies faced a serious problem in the formation of export shipments by rail from the regions of Siberia. This was due to the restriction of the operation of a number of border checkpoints to counter the spread of coronavirus infection.

«Representing the interests of timber merchants, including the Siberian region, the «Russian Forest» association began to work with this problem from the moment it arose. We informed the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Russian Railways OJSC about the current circumstances.

As a result, the Russian side sent appeals to its colleagues from the PRC, and the Chinese side expressed its readiness to promptly consider information on specific situations.

I hope that further work will allow us to finally resolve this problem», — commented in the Association.
